  • Pinedale Wrestling Club (47 W Birch Avenue) lost its wrestling mats in a recent theft and now seeks donations to resume free practices for young athletes.  KMPH

BUSINESS NEWS

  • The Save Mart Companies named Jim Perkins as president and CEO on Thursday, taking over the West Coast's largest regional grocery chain. The Modesto-based retailer, which operates over 200 stores, plans to open new locations and remodel stores as Perkins (with 40 years’ experience) focuses on customer service in Fresno.  The Business Journal
  • Construction will begin in May for Sam's Italian Deli and Market's second location at the Villagio shopping center on Blackstone and Nees in north Fresno — the owner said the new site will offer the same deli meats, Italian pastries and other favorites starting in February 2027.  ABC30
  • Business Journal has compiled last year’s top companies from weekly surveys into a comprehensive yearbook for the region. The CEO of the Year event on Feb. 24 will offer a first look at the Book of Lists + insights before its official publication on Feb. 27.  The Business Journal

  • 94-year-old Joseph G. Garcia (designer of the 1981 red-and-blue Fresno State Bulldog logo) will discuss his long career ahead of his downtown Fresno gallery show this weekend.  KVPR

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Fresno County supervisors recognized Pleasant Mattress on Tuesday for hiring 36 workers through the New Employment Opportunities program, which helps CalWorks recipients and others return to work. The local business plans to keep supporting community members with wage reimbursements and training.  GV Wire
  • Local banks have seen branches decline while deposits remain steady over the past five years in Fresno and nearby counties. In 2025, $29.7 billion in deposits was held across Fresno, Kings, Madera & Tulare counties, and planned mergers are expected to reshape banking in the region.  The Business Journal

  • Fresno County launched Driving Change, a monthlong campaign announced on Wednesday by Mothers Against Drunk Driving and Hedrick Chevrolet to reduce impaired driving through community partnerships & education and enforcement. Hedrick Chevrolet will donate part of every January vehicle sale to support victim services and prevention programs.  GV Wire
  • Valley Rep. David Valadao voted Thursday to extend ACA subsidies for Central California residents as rising premiums follow the end of pandemic-era support, and the measure now moves to the Senate for further review.  ABC30

HEALTH NEWS

  • Iris, a Fresno caregiver chosen among 500 applicants, will receive a $50K smile restoration from the Fresno Oral Maxillofacial Surgery and Dental Implant Center as part of its Second Chance program. Her treatment will take several months (set to complete by year-end).  ABC30
  • Little Dreamers Pediatric Dentistry opened in Clovis today to provide child-friendly dental care for patients from infants to teens. Drs. Carranco and Guerra aim to ease fear with colorful, playful appointments that include sensory sessions for kids with special needs.  ABC30
