- ➤ Benaddiction, a popular breakfast spot that grew from a food truck to two locations, will close on Monday, Jan. 19 after its original lease was not renewed. The restaurant has seen increased visits since its Facebook announcement and will offer special mug sales on its final day. KMPH
- ➤ Mission Bell Winery in Madera reported Tuesday that more than 200 employees will be laid off as its distributor contract with Gallo ended — the company will wind down operations and close on March 31 as it restructures production. KMPH
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The historic Southern Pacific Engine 1238, which was once at Roeding Park, was moved to the Kingsburg Railroad Depot on Monday. Local experts, volunteers, and community partners coordinated the move to preserve Fresno County's railroad history. The Business Journal
- ➤ Andrew Firebaugh established a ferry crossing on the San Joaquin River in 1854 that quickly became a stagecoach stop and later paved the way for The Academy (Fresno’s first secondary school), as noted on KVPR’s Central Valley Roots. KVPR

- ➤ Fresno Unified School District announced an early retirement incentive that more than 500 employees took advantage of today to help address declining enrollment + secure multi-million-dollar savings, explained Superintendent Misty Her. The district plans further staffing adjustments ahead this school year. KVPR
- ➤ Fresno County Superintendent Michele Cantwell-Copher launched her bid for re-election on Tuesday afternoon in downtown Fresno. She said her campaign will focus on improving education for over 230,000 students & working with local school districts to address present challenges. KMPH

- ➤ Caltrans will repair pavement along Highway 99 next week, causing lane and ramp closures in Fresno County. The repairs — including closures at Floral and Belmont off-ramps and near Church and Jensen — may last longer if weather delays occur. GV Wire
- ➤ Fresno County is set to conduct its Point In Time Count on Tuesday, Jan. 27 and Wednesday, Jan. 28 to gather improved data on unhoused residents through volunteer surveys — county officials urge additional sign-ups as nearly 250 volunteers have already registered. Fresnoland
