- ➤ PG&E lowered electric rates by 13% since January 2024, saving customers about $25 per month. The utility proposed a new rate hike set for 2027 that may add $144 to annual bills and is under review by the California Public Utilities Commission. ABC30

- ➤ Dr. Lizbeth De La Cruz Santana’s exhibit (Humanizar Historias) opened Feb. 26 at Arte Américas and runs through end of June, showcasing four collaborative mural projects created with undocumented community members who help bring local history to life in Fresno. Fresnoland
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Coalinga College is testing agave—a crop that uses less water than pistachios—as a sustainable option for West Side farmers. The college is applying for grants to research the crop’s viability and expand student workforce training today. ABC30
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Fresno City Council extended a loan for $11.7M to developer Mehmet Noyan for The Park @ South Stadium project near Chukchansi Stadium. The project will replace abandoned buildings with 174 housing units—including 70 affordable ones—and will rely on an expected $70M in state bond funds. GV Wire
- ➤ Fresno will receive $10.4 million in state funds to support over 500 emergency shelter beds for adults + Mayor Jerry Dyer said half the money will arrive in the coming months with the remainder coming next year to aid those in need. KMPH
- ➤ Naval Air Station Lemoore canceled this year’s air show scheduled for March 21 and 22 because of heightened security measures due to the Iran conflict. The base will reschedule the event later + a spokesperson said safety remains the top priority. ABC30

- ➤ The 40th annual Home and Garden Show will take place at the Fresno Fairgrounds this weekend, where visitors can view kitchen, bath, and tiny home displays (plus a landscape competition). ABC30

- ➤ This Sunday, UC Merced will launch Together We Will, a free event to connect and support high school girls who play sports. Organizer Lisa Pollard said the program will offer mentoring and resources + build a supportive network for local athletes. KVPR
