  • Fresno Housing said Monday that RH Community Builders will convert the shuttered Journey Home shelter in southwest Fresno into a recuperative care center for homeless patients recovering from hospital care.  GV Wire
  • The Clovis Rodeo Board voted Tuesday, March 10, not to include breakaway roping in this year’s rodeo due to disagreements over prize money + terms. The board said other events will continue as part of its longstanding tradition.  ABC30

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Westlands crop data show agave acreage nearly doubled from 575 to 1,010 acres and fallowed land increased nearly 10% to 218,724 acres from 2024 to 2025, while wine grape acreage dropped to 6,759 acres as farmers adjust to water uncertainty (Central Valley Project allocation reduced).  GV Wire

  • Clovis East High’s agriculture department will name a barn after retired teacher and FFA coach Ken Dias, with the ceremony scheduled for Thursday evening (honoring his nearly 40 years of service).  ABC30
  • State Superintendent Tony Thurmond announced that 408 middle and high schools, including two from Fresno’s Kings Canyon Unified district like Reedley High School, were selected for the 2026 California Distinguished Schools Program.   • A 14-year-old Fresno High School student, Daniel Padilla Jr., collapsed while playing basketball in physical education on Monday and died at the hospital despite prompt emergency care, according to school officials.  GV Wire

  • Fresno doctors said that beginning the day with bright light + limiting screen time and alcohol can help reset the body’s sleep schedule after the time change, as they recommended a full night’s sleep to prevent future health issues like high blood pressure, heart problems, and anxiety.  ABC30
  • Valley Oak SPCA warned pet owners on Tuesday, Mar. 10 that a contagious disease (leptospirosis) is affecting dogs in parts of California and advised taking precautions to keep pets safe.  ABC30
