COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Fresno Unified School District announced it will not participate in the planned César Chávez celebration at Warnors Theatre after troubling abuse allegations emerged from UFW. The cancellation aims to create space for those seeking support (details remain undisclosed).  GV Wire
  • The United Farm Workers Association said it will not take part in César Chávez celebrations this year in Fresno, citing troubling allegations & sensitive information that do not match its values. The cancellation will allow people who may have been hurt to receive support.  KMJ Now

CULTURE NEWS

  • Downtown’s new food hall The Grub Pub opened last week and will hold its grand opening on April 1; the 8,000 sqft venue offers eateries such as Beebe’s Cafe and Los Barrientes (with an upcoming bar) and will display local art to unite the community.  KMPH
  • Hip-hop star Lil Wayne will perform with The Game at the Save Mart Center on Aug. 28 during his 20+ Years of Carter Classics tour. Tickets go on sale Friday, March 20 at 10 a.m. for fans to secure seats.  GV Wire

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Grant Middle School runs Grizzly Power Hour twice a week where teachers offer extra support during a 30-minute session, leading to improved test scores in math, ELA, and science & earning a Model PLC recognition.  ABC30
  • Middle and high school students from Fresno County set up over 250 science projects Monday at the Fresno Fairgrounds and attended interviews yesterday for the 74th annual science fair; awards including scholarships + a chance to compete at state and regional levels will be announced on Thursday.  ABC30

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Fresno city parks and arts commission voted on Monday to make its Cultural Arts Subcommittee a standing committee that meets in public — a change to boost transparency following a grant scandal. The city will move grant administration in-house and hire three new staffers, with the measure set for City Council review on March 26.  Fresnoland

HEALTH NEWS

  • Raw Farm California in Fresno County disputes FDA reports linking its raw cheddar cheese to an E. coli outbreak reported in several states; the company said its tests (and government tests) found no harmful bacteria and that its products remain safe while officials investigate illnesses from September 2025 to February.  KMPH

SPORTS NEWS

  • Mulligan’s, a Visalia sports bar and indoor golf simulator, will open soon near Woodward Park in north Fresno — located at the former Lassen’s grocery store site. CEO Shane Moss said the venue will offer indoor golf bays, competitive leagues, and a full-service bar.  GV Wire
