- ➤ Firefighters in Kings County battled a fast-spreading wildfire that began Wednesday, Mar. 25 on 25th Ave near Interstate 5 and the Kern County line and grew to 1,000 acres with no structures threatened (Fresno County Fire joined Kern County Fire and Avenal State Prison in the response). KMPH

- ➤ Fresno Unified employees raised concerns over proposed layoffs at a downtown press conference on Wednesday. The school district said every employee losing a position would be reassigned while teachers cited $315 million in available discretionary funds (including $175 million in unrestricted funds) to argue that spending cuts could be avoided. - ➤ Fresno County law enforcement awarded a $90,000 grant on Tuesday to Boys and Girls Clubs to bolster youth programs covering mentorship, leadership, sports and gang prevention education. The funding will provide $30,000 annually at 14 locations from 2026 through 2028. GV Wire
