- ➤ Fresno business owner Cristina Foanene said her glass company once used SBA loans before a new rule barred green-card holders from getting funding. The policy took effect in March and may limit local small business growth by restricting loans to U.S.-citizens only. ABC30
- ➤ AAA data showed gas prices topped $4 per gallon nationwide on Tuesday, March 31 amid a global oil shock triggered by the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran. Fresno drivers may soon see higher pump prices as international supply concerns continue to impact the market. ABC30
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Universal transitional kindergarten was launched last year after a multi-year rollout by Gov. Newsom to ensure all children receive high quality early education — however, KVPR's Rachel Livinal reported that the program is running behind in some areas and discussed her findings on today’s episode. - ➤ About 15 students from each feeder school attended Reedley High’s three-day Spring Fling event on spring break to ease their move to high school. They played games, took classes, and met teachers (helping to reduce nerves); those who complete the program will earn a trip to Disney California Adventure tomorrow. ABC30

- ➤ Fresno County’s fire season began with the Pin Fire near Millerton Lake, which burned 6.5 acres and was contained quickly, thanks to new firefighting tools — experts urge residents to create defensible space and have a wildfire escape plan. ABC30

- ➤ FDA and CDC started testing for E. coli Thursday, March 26 at Raw Farm located at 7221 S. Jameson Ave after nine people got sick from eating its cheddar cheese; owner Mark McAfee said 14,000 tests since Sept. 2025 showed no E. coli and he will not recall the cheese. GV Wire
