  • Asian food vendors at River Park were banned from selling at events and asked for an apology and clear reasons for what they said was a discriminatory move. Supporters gathered downtown while some groups offered another spot—Fresno Street Eats said they are in talks with park leadership to resolve the issue.  ABC30

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Tuesday night just before 9 p.m., 34-year-old Gabrielle Mammen of Firebaugh died near Millerton and North Fork roads in Friant after she got out of a moving truck and was run over by one of its back tires while her 20-year-old boyfriend drove at about 40 miles per hour and police reported no foul play.  KMJ Now

CRIME NEWS

  • Fresno police arrested Bailey Rosenberger in Modesto on April 2 in connection with the 2016 stabbing death of store clerk Gurcharn Singh Gill who was fatally injured at Shields Express Mart on Jan. 1—he was then taken to Fresno County Jail after formal charges were filed.  GV Wire
  • Fresno police will conduct a DUI checkpoint Saturday night from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. at an undisclosed location to remove suspected impaired drivers from the road — the operation is funded by the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.  GV Wire
  • Authorities are asking Fresno residents to help locate Jennifer Michelle King (born January 30), a white female measuring 5'7 and 125 lbs with blond hair and green eyes who is wanted for felony vandalism under warrant number F25902247.  GV Wire
  • Fresno PD reported that 11-year-old Kentravis Davis went missing after he was last seen on April 15 at 2:00 p.m. near his home on Dwight Way near Cedar and Butler Avenue, wearing a white shirt, shorts and black Nike shoes with yellow and green designs — he is 4 feet 9 inches tall with a thin build.  KMPH

  • Fresno was highlighted on Jeopardy! this past Monday when a Double Jeopardy clue focused on its name meaning 'ash tree' and historic Armenian community—contestant Andrew Hayes answered correctly to earn $800 and later returned to compete again.  GV Wire

  • Maria Arredondo is a senior at Fresno State studying criminology who wakes up early to care for her six children while managing her schoolwork at home and off campus—she will soon walk the stage at Save Mart Center on Friday, May 16. She plans to continue her studies with a master’s degree and work in juvenile corrections after graduation.  Fresno State News

  • Last night, the Selma City Council fired its manager Fernando Santillan in a 4-1 vote—ending his work. Santillan said he was fired purely for political reasons and will leave when he gets his final paycheck next week—after a tough time with Mayor Scott Robertson.  GV Wire
