ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Military officials identified two Marines from California—one from Fresno and one from Riverside—who died when their vehicle crashed near Santa Teresa on the U.S.-Mexico border during a deployment, while another Marine remained in critical condition as the investigation continued.  The Business Journal

  • Wickey Two Hands, a 77-year-old homeless man arrested for camping in public under a Fresno ordinance, had his case dismissed on April 10 because the trial started too late—police and city resources were used without reaching a verdict.  GV Wire
  • A pickup rolled onto its side in Fresno around 8:45 a.m. Friday morning at the intersection of Belmont and Armstrong Avenues after an SUV reportedly ran a red light and hit an oncoming truck, and police later arrested the SUV driver near Shields and Temperance Avenues on suspicion of driving under the influence while the pickup driver was taken to CRMC with minor injuries.  KMPH

  • The Veterans Memorial Museum in Fresno now shows a rare M1944 uniform that belonged to General Jimmy Doolittle—who led the famous raid on Japan—and he was awarded the Medal of Honor.  KMPH
  • Fresno native fashion designer Willy Chavarria was named one of Time Magazine’s 100 most influential people of 2025 for his groundbreaking work in the fashion industry that celebrates his Chicano roots (marking the first time a local has received this honor).  Your Central Valley

  • Today, Sandra Toledo, a senior at Mendota High School with a 4.65 GPA, was named this month's Superintendent Superstar for her strong school work and community service. She took honors and AP classes, completed the Ag Science and Technology Dual Credit pathway, and joined clubs like NAMI, Pre Med, and FFA (where she won the highest state award) while planning to become a lawyer.  KMPH

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The city of Fresno flipped the switch on the nation’s largest combined solar and battery storage project at 2108 S. Cornelia Ave two days ago. The 34-megawatt facility was built with federal tax credits and private power purchase agreements to help power three wastewater treatment plants at no cost to taxpayers.  GV Wire
