  • Gary Chahil is the new president of the Big Fresno Fair board and the first American Sikh in this role, working with vice president Frank Flores and secretary/treasurer Jerry Pacheco. ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • At 11:29 p.m. on April 20, firefighters responded to a dryer fire at a Clovis apartment near Fowler and Tollhouse avenues and quickly contained the blaze in the laundry room with no injuries reported.  ABC30
  • Rescuers pulled one person from the water and airlifted them to a hospital after receiving CPR, and another person was rescued from an island at Avocado Lake on Easter Sunday.  ABC30
  • A white Ford van crashed into a power pole near Walnut and Manning Avenues on Sunday morning, knocking down three additional poles, leaving nearly 100 people without power near Easton, and prompting PG&E crews to work for hours while the driver fled the scene (two other drivers hit debris but were not injured) as Manning Avenue from Elm Street to Fruit Avenue was blocked off.  ABC30

  • Fresno shoppers have found it hard to buy the Dubai chocolate bar with pistachio cream as its high demand has raised pistachio prices and caused shortages at local candy stores. Producers say rising demand (with kernel prices increasing from $7.65 to $10.30 per pound) is pushing farmers and chocolatiers to boost production.  Your Central Valley

  • A man was stabbed at Jack’s Gas in Easton and later involved in a car crash near Community Regional Medical Center on Sunday afternoon—police are investigating after a group of young men fled in a black Cadillac and a passerby drove the seriously injured man to the Fresno hospital.  Your Central Valley

  • MadTown Robotics Team 1323 won its third World Championship on Saturday at an international competition in Houston, Texas. The team, which includes students from Matilda Torres, Madera, and Madera South High Schools, has strengthened its record in STEM education.  ABC30
