- ➤ Sweet Ppang is a local family-owned shop that opened in summer 2024 on McKinley and Fruit avenues to serve taiyaki—a fish-shaped cake with fillings like custard, red bean and ube—and other treats such as croffles, soft serve ice cream, boba teas and coffee. - ➤ Early Sunday, southwest Fresno resident Jesse Leon faced a violent attack when 27-year-old Luis Vasquez jumped over his fence asking for help and then struck him with cutting shears—leaving Leon injured—before deputies arrived and arrested the suspect. KMPH

- ➤ The Fresno State Powerlifting Club is asking for support to represent Fresno State and Team USA at the University World Competition in Istanbul. - ➤ Fresno Unified officials reported that superintendent Misty Her’s contract, which raises her annual salary to $385,500 with a $100,000 pay bump, will be presented for board approval and she is set to begin her new three-year term today if approved. GV Wire
- ➤ Fresno State is set to get a $16.3 million budget cut from Gov. Newsom’s $375 million CSU funding reduction—faculty warn the cut will mean fewer classes, bigger class sizes and layoffs while the university uses one-time funds to shrink a projected $19 million gap. The Collegian

- ➤ The Fresno Unified School Board of Education proposed a contract for new Superintendent Misty Her that pays her $385,500 per year — over 12 times Fresno’s median income based on recent Census data. - ➤ Today, Fresno County will honor fallen officers at noon at the Peace Officers Memorial in Courthouse Park with the 2025 memorial ceremony. Law enforcement agencies will join together to remember 64 officers who died in the line of duty—marking the event’s 27th anniversary—during the national Peace Officers Memorial Day observance.
