COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The San Joaquin Valley Town Hall Series begins its 90th season in the Central Valley. It will host Twilight Talks at 7 p.m. and Daytime Talks at 10:30 a.m. at venues, with speakers including Colin Quinn on Sept. 16, Norah O'Donnell on Oct. 14, and Kobie Boykins on Nov. 18.  ABC30

CULTURE NEWS

  • Porchfest brings live music and treats from food trucks and restaurants to the Tower District today as local artists perform on porches and streets fill with community fans. The event highlights Fresno’s vibrant local music and art scene.  The Collegian

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Clovis Unified is facing an interpreter shortage after 16 ASL experts left over the past two years due to low pay, leaving deaf and hard of hearing students with reduced support as record enrollment grows to 43,254 pupils.   • Sanger West High School held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday to open a 38,000 sqft student commons where students can eat, study and gather. The new facility also features a modern library with huddle rooms and a video board and was funded by voter-approved Measure C + Measure M bonds.  ABC30
  • Local college students and aspiring educators gain hands-on teaching experience serving K-12 students through the California Teaching Fellows Foundation program. The foundation will host its annual gala on Friday, Sept. 25 at Fort Washington Country Club in northeast Fresno to support its teacher pipeline.  ABC30
  • UCSF Fresno's Clinical Skills and Simulation Center received four new point-of-care ultrasound machines donated by the Isnardi Foundation to boost hands-on training. Faculty say the machines—featuring advanced AI tools—will enable more frequent workshops and support growing student numbers, with training for the first ultrasound fellow starting in July.  ABC30
  • Fresno State will soon graduate its first class from the Asian American studies program that explores local Asian history — a milestone celebrated by students and faculty. The program highlights the Valley's rich Asian diaspora and expands academic diversity.  KVPR
