- ➤ Yesterday, the Downtown Fresno Partnership kicked off the Market on Kern season along Kern and N streets with over two dozen vendors selling food, handmade items, and fresh produce. Mayor Jerry Dyer said the event will draw more people downtown while supporting local businesses and noted the market will run every Wednesday through October from 9 am to 2 pm—cancellations will occur if temperatures hit 105 degrees or above. - ➤ The Fresno community paid tribute to local Marine Lance Cpl. Marcelino Gamino—who lost his life in a fatal convoy crash in New Mexico after his remains arrived at Fresno Yosemite Airport on Tuesday evening, May 6. Visitation will be held at Stephens and Bean Funeral Chapel on May 13 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m., and a Celebration of Life will take place on May 14 at Belmont Memorial Park. KMPH

- ➤ The 28-year-old suspect Jagat Singh appeared before a judge on May 7 after being charged with nine felony counts, including two counts for murder, in connection with a DUI crash that killed teens Maddux Greene and Jordan Galvez on Friday night on Clovis Avenue in east central Fresno—his bail was revoked and his arraignment has been continued for two weeks. - ➤ On Tuesday, May 6th, the SCCCD board approved a deal with developer Servitas from Texas for a 360-unit student housing project on the Fresno City College campus, rejecting an off-campus downtown proposal. - ➤ Leaders at the California Teaching Fellow Foundation said nearly 4,000 after-school tutors faced hurdles earning teaching credentials because no university program offers flexible schedules or counts their work hours.
