- ➤ Clovis police said that two teenagers were arrested for the April 23 shooting that killed 18-year-old Caleb Quick outside a McDonald's after surveillance tracked a suspect for 13 minutes and a white Tesla was linked to the getaway—one suspect turned himself in while the other was taken into custody. - ➤ Officers responded to a follow-up investigation on April 30 that led to the arrest of a man prohibited from owning guns after a warrant search of his home yielded 9 guns, thousands of rounds of ammo, and about 60 opium poppy and marijuana plants—information from which a week later led to another arrest for gun sales after a warrant search of a second home found 3 guns. - ➤ Clovis police arrested two 16-year-old Clovis Unified students for the murder of 18-year-old Caleb Quick after surveillance and over 100 tips from Valley Crime Stoppers linked the case to a fatal shooting near a McDonald’s at Willow and Nees avenues on April 23—police charged both the shooter and the driver and recovered the handgun from the shooter’s residence. - ➤ Former Fresno State quarterback Derek Carr retired from the NFL after 11 seasons — his right shoulder injuries cut short his final season — and he moved back to Fresno to raise his children. He passed for over 41,000 yards and threw 257 touchdowns while playing for the Saints and Raiders. The Collegian
- ➤ Fresno State’s women’s water polo team ended its season with a 14-8 overall record and a 6-1 conference record before losing 14-12 to Loyola Marymount in the GCC title game at the Fresno State Aquatics Center. Coach Natalie Benson will lead seven returning juniors next season after key players, including senior Brooke Ochoa who set program records, concluded their careers. The Collegian
