CRIME NEWS
- ➤ 58-year-old Nickey Duane Stane pleaded guilty to the 1996 rape and murder of Fresno State student Debbie Dorian and the sexual assaults of several women in Visalia from 1999 to 2002—he will be sentenced on June 12 in Fresno County and will face life in prison without the possibility of parole. - ➤ Two people died after a Thursday night crash at the intersection of McKinley and Westlawn Avenues when a 22-year-old driving a Honda Civic failed to stop at a stop sign and was struck broadside by a Chevrolet Silverado, killing his 20-year-old passenger at the scene while he later died in the hospital and leaving the Silverado’s driver and passenger with minor injuries—authorities are investigating the incident. - ➤ A 27-year-old Georgia woman, who had been missing for three weeks during a solo camping trip in the Fresno County mountains, was found safe near Lake Edison and spoke with her family at the Fresno County Sheriff's Office on Friday at 11:30 a.m.—the search covered nearly 600 square miles and ended when a resort owner found an open cabin door at Vermilion Valley Resort.
