ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A head-on collision early Thursday morning on South Hayes Avenue claimed the life of a 20-year-old driver from Raisin City — a suspected medical emergency led to the crash — while two Fresno residents in a Toyota Camry suffered moderate injuries and were taken to a local hospital.  KMPH
  • A 27-year-old man died when his Honda Accord veered off Highway 180 near Zumwalt Avenue on Friday night and landed upside down in the Friant Kern Canal (authorities said he was on his phone moments before the crash) as emergency responders confirmed no other victims.  KMPH
  • A 38-year-old woman driving a white Chevrolet Malibu was killed in a crash on Highway 180 near Del Rey Avenue in Sanger when her car was broadsided by a Hummer H2 (72-year-old driver) that caused her vehicle to hit a Sanger police motorcycle; the Hummer driver sustained minor injuries and the motorcycle rider was unharmed.  Your Central Valley

EDUCATION NEWS

  • CTEC Charter School’s Titans were honored with the 2025 FIRST School Recognition for their robotics work—one of just 10 schools in the nation to earn the award. They started their team in 2021 and now lead efforts in Fresno County by helping 10 more schools launch robot programs.  KMPH

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A Fresno County Superior Court judge ruled on Friday that the city owes Fresno Building Healthy Communities $290,071 in attorneys’ fees after nearly seven years of litigation over Measure P—a parks tax ballot measure marred by an attorney error on the two-thirds language. The ruling came after a long legal battle that saw the fee request reduced from $600,000 and costs split with the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association.  GV Wire

  • The Fresno Pacific women’s 4x100 relay team won the NCAA Division II championship Saturday — they set a record with a 43.85 finish. Nydia Chance replaced senior Ariana Vera after she fell ill, and Brianna Green also won the 400m hurdles title with a 56.88 finish.  ABC30
