  • Naomi’s House at Holy Cross opened Friday morning in a partnership between the Poverello House and St. Agnes Medical Center to offer emergency shelter with 34 beds for women experiencing homelessness — a new resource focused on restoring stability.  Your Central Valley

CRIME NEWS

  • Felecia Johnson, age 37, is wanted on a felony warrant for assault in Fresno and is described as 5 ft 7 in tall & weighing 135 lbs with black hair and brown eyes.  KMPH
  • Fresno police arrested two women on suspicion of assault with a firearm after linking them to two shootings that targeted the same woman over four days—one incident occurred on May 10 near Marks and Alamos avenues when a suspect handed a gun to her partner as the victim fled and another on May 13 when gunfire struck the victim's home.  GV Wire

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Macy’s donated $10,000 in gift cards—each scholar received a $250 card during a private styling session at Fashion Fair Mall in April—to Fresno State’s Renaissance Scholars Program, which supports students from foster care and independent backgrounds. The program will host another session with Macy’s in June to help more students build professional wardrobes.  Fresno State News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • California Highway Patrol officers said new Dodge Durango vehicles—designed to blend in with traffic—are deployed statewide to catch speeders, with 100 specially marked vehicles in service. In Fresno County, officers issued 1,000 tickets in three weeks and a second vehicle hit the streets while some drivers called the design deceptive as officials maintained it meets legal standards.  KMJ Now

HEALTH NEWS

  • City leaders announced that cooling centers are open today in Fresno at three community centers—Ted C. Wills, Mosqueda and Maxie L. Parks—from noon to 8 p.m. as residents face rising temperatures, and a center is also open today at Sierra Vista Mall in Clovis with free rides offered on normal transit routes.  Fresnoland

  • The Fresno Pacific women's 4x100 relay team won the DII national championship with a blazing time of 43.85—setting a new record and marking the program's highest finish. The five Sunbirds returned to the Valley today under coach Robert Foster, who is planning their next major race.  ABC30
