- ➤ The red brick archway at Shephard and Minnewawa Avenues in Clovis is all that remains of the 1912 Garfield School after a fire in 1990. It stands as a reminder of the town's educational legacy (a local landmark of history). KVPR

- ➤ On Sunday, May 31, a ribbon cutting event marked the grand opening of the Bulle, a French restaurant in Fresno where local and state leaders toured the venue and watched Chef Max McCarthy's demonstration. The restaurant is now open, serving diners Wednesday through Saturday from 4 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. KMPH
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ More than a dozen Valley students were honored at a senior scholarship dinner hosted by Bridge-to-College at the Clovis Senior Activities Center Saturday night. Sixteen students received $8,000 in scholarships and certificates from local dignitaries including Congressman David Valladao and Representative Jim Costa. ABC30

- ➤ Cal Fire is asking residents to report signs of the invasive Goldspotted Oak Borer when hiking or camping in local areas. The pest, from southeast Arizona and responsible for killing nearly 200,000 oak trees (taking 2 to 3 years to kill a tree), could threaten local oak populations. KMPH

- ➤ Eastbound Jensen Avenue between Sarah Street and East Avenue will close for emergency sewer repairs starting today, with work expected to last about two months although delays may occur. Westbound traffic will remain open and southside business access will be maintained. GV Wire
