- ➤ A man was arrested after a standoff on Sunday at 7 p.m. near Turner and Recreation Avenues in southeast Fresno when officers searched for a parolee who fled a Friday traffic stop—he pointed a gun at police, drove erratically, and rammed fences before surrendering, and he now faces charges for firearm possession, parole violations, and brandishing a gun. - ➤ Fresno County crews are battling an active wildfire on Crane Lane in Squaw Valley that started Monday and scorched 10 acres while threatening nearby structures; deputies have issued evacuation warnings to Zone K73 North residents. - ➤ Fresno County’s Measure A was thrown out Monday by Superior Court Judge D. Tyler Tharpe—he ruled that state law preempted the county’s changes, allowing Sheriff John Zanoni and District Attorney Lisa Smittcamp to serve two extra years with elections pushed to 2028—County Supervisors will discuss potential next steps at a closed session meeting on June 10. - ➤ Fresno’s mobile food vendors will need new city IDs to sell on sidewalks as the new ordinance takes effect on July 1—vendors with a business license and health permit can apply starting June 6. Officials say the IDs will verify that food is safe and vendors are properly permitted. Fresnoland
