  • Nonprofit foster care agencies in the Central Valley are facing a crisis as insurance costs have doubled and the largest insurer has stopped renewing policies, causing agencies like Sierra Vista to close foster placement services and transfer about 20 youth to other providers. Officials warn that rising premiums may force more agencies to reduce services or shut down—placing additional strain on local foster care as advocates push lawmakers for relief.  GV Wire

  • Clovis police are asking for help finding Mark Kismet—a 50-year-old man at risk—who was last seen Friday afternoon in the Harlan Ranch neighborhood near Locan and Shepherd Avenues and may have been heading toward the foothills and mountains.  KMPH
  • A person was stabbed at a Popeyes in Central Fresno around 1:30 p.m. yesterday near Blackstone and Cornell Avenues — the victim is being treated at a hospital while officers search for the suspect.  ABC30

  • The 35th Annual Fresno Rainbow Pride Parade and Festival took place yesterday, June 7, at the Tower District + Fresno City College, drawing a diverse crowd to celebrate unity and vibrant culture.  GV Wire

  • Fresno County Transportation Authority Executive Director Terry Ogle resigned by submitting a 30-day notice on Thursday, having served since February 26, 2024 + county leaders will appoint an interim director and rearrange personnel without affecting the planned 2026 Measure C renewal efforts.  KMPH

HEALTH NEWS

  • Officials announced that 79 people have become sick from Salmonella linked to eggs recalled by California-based August Egg Company—21 of whom were hospitalized. Recalled organic and cage-free brown eggs, with sell by dates from March 4 to June 19, were distributed in California and other states, and consumers are advised not to eat any recalled eggs and to wash surfaces that came in contact with them.  ABC30
