ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A wrong-way driver in a jeep crashed head-on on I-5 near Coalinga on June 20, sparking a grass fire that burned 90 acres and killed three people.  ABC30

CRIME NEWS

  • Police said a man in his 30s was shot at an apartment complex on Plumas near Walnut avenues in southwest Fresno early Friday and later died at a local hospital—investigators believe the shooting stemmed from a party gone wrong.  ABC30
  • Authorities are seeking 45-year-old Versall Johnson Henderson, a man who is 6'2" tall and weighs 230 lbs with black hair and hazel eyes, because he is wanted on a felony warrant for assault with a deadly weapon; anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-STOP.  KMPH
  • Fresno police responded to a three-round shotspotter call just after 2 a.m. Friday at an apartment complex on Plumas near Walnut that left a man in his 30s with an upper body gunshot wound and he was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead—police believe the shooting stemmed from a party gone wrong and have not identified any suspects.  KMJ Now

  • Global superstar Shakira added Fresno to her 'Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran' world tour and will perform at Valley Children’s Stadium on Aug. 7—marking the venue's first-ever concert—after beginning the North American leg on May 13 in Charlotte.  The Business Journal

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Ruth Fire burned 14 acres and destroyed one structure in Yokuts Valley near Ruth Hill Road and Barberry Lane and is now 20% contained, CalFire said. About 140 firefighters are battling the blaze using engines, water tenders, helicopters, bulldozers and hand crews—efforts complicated by steep, rocky terrain.  GV Wire
