- ➤ A garage fire in Fresno early Saturday evening caused about $125,000 in damages and displaced two residents after flames spread from a detached garage's patio area into the home near Floradora Avenue and Calaveras Street—firefighters arrived around 5:10 p.m. Your Central Valley
- ➤ Fresno Fire Department said high winds on Saturday afternoon quickly escalated a small fire near the Chestnut Avenue off-ramp from Highway 180 so that it spread to four acres near homes — causing minor damage to fences and power poles — while investigators examine the rising fire activity in the area. - ➤ Traffic on Highway 99 near Fowler stopped Saturday when a grass fire spread quickly from the west shoulder to the median and east side because of strong winds; Caltrans closed lanes near Clovis and American Avenues while firefighters worked for hours to put out the flames — only the No. 1 lanes stayed closed — and officials are investigating the cause.
