COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Fresno residents hosted a car wash fundraiser to help cover medical expenses for Gabriel Garcia, who is undergoing chemotherapy for rare bone cancer (osteosarcoma with pulmonary metastasis). Nearly 200 people attended, and the strong community turnout has given the family added strength as they continue this fight.  KMPH
  • Central California Blood Center will host its 38th annual Pint For A Pint Blood Drive from July 1 through September 6 to give donors the chance to donate once or even twice and enjoy free Umpqua ice cream—each pint can save three lives. Donors can visit one of five sites or mobile drives as the center works to collect 5,000 pints each month.  ABC30
  • Furry Freedom Fest held its first pet-friendly July 4th celebration at the Clovis Rodeo Grounds with a drone light show by Skye Dreams—designed to keep pets calm during the event. Families enjoyed live music, rides, and pet vendors, and a portion of the proceeds supported Miss Winkles’ Pet Adoption Center.  KMPH

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A two-car collision at Huntington and Chestnut Avenues in southeast Fresno at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday left an 80-year-old woman dead and injured a 36-year-old man and a 26-year-old man — Fresno firefighters extricated the trapped Lexus occupants before transporting them to a local hospital — while the Camaro driver remained in stable condition.  Your Central Valley

  • After Operation Shock Collar dismantled a violent gang in Fresno County and the Central Valley—resulting in 92 charges and the seizure of firearms and drugs—authorities are still looking for four suspects and vowed to continue the crackdown.  KMPH
