ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Fresno fire crews contained a grass fire along Highway 180 and Peach Avenue that started at 1:30 p.m. Sunday and burned three acres—causing evacuations—and was quickly controlled with no home damage or injuries.  Your Central Valley
  • A Clovis family was left homeless after a fire destroyed their four-generation home on Friday night near Gettysburg and Peach—Clovis Fire Department said wind and nearby vehicles, boats and trailers helped the flames spread, and the family now faces heartbreak as they prepare to notify an 89-year-old relative in hospital that her home is gone.  ABC30

CRIME NEWS

  • Island Water Park said a grass fire on July 4 near the park was caused by an illegal firework and high winds—officials reported that small fires were quickly put out and a suspect was taken into custody.  Your Central Valley
  • A 32-year-old man from Madera was arrested for DUI after driving a golf cart near Bass Lake at 9:15 p.m.—the incident occurred on Road 432 near Paha Road on Saturday and police noted that golf carts are not legal on public streets.  KMPH
  • A 22-year-old man was arrested for DUI on Saturday after he veered off the freeway and hit a CHP officer's motorcycle and a tow truck while the officer was off his motorcycle investigating a previous crash—no one was injured.  KMPH

HEALTH NEWS

  • After Fourth of July fireworks, air quality in Fresno and the Central Valley got worse as smoke lingered into the week. Health experts told residents with breathing problems to keep windows closed and wash off smoke—steps that may help reduce irritation.  ABC30
  • Alyssa Kincaid, a 27-year-old from Clovis, was diagnosed with stage 4 lymphoma while five months pregnant and started chemotherapy within days—she says feeling her baby kick gives her the strength to keep fighting as her fiancé and community support her.  ABC30
