  • Cressman’s General Store, a landmark destroyed in the Creek Fire of 2020, is having its new building built and will include a full kitchen and BBQ before next summer. CRIME NEWS

  • A Fresno County man from Reedley, Jesus Rosendo Zeferino, 25, was sentenced Wednesday to 13 years in state prison after pleading guilty to gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated for a high-speed crash on Oct. 19 near Orange Cove that killed 27-year-old Kingsburg resident Eli Abraham Lopez Lopez and injured several others—one passenger was airlifted by SkyLife.  GV Wire

  • Fresno will host Fresno Fright Nights with an immersive haunted attraction on a 6-acre site at Island Waterpark starting Oct. 3 until Nov. 1—offering four themed experiences that include a spooky plant tour, a cemetery trail and a swamp walk. Visitors will enjoy food trucks, photo opportunities and two full-service adult beverage lairs—designed to deliver intense scares and engaging storytelling.  Your Central Valley

  • Fresno broke ground Tuesday on a $19 million 911 call center in the municipal yard at El Dorado and G streets to replace the outdated basement office. The 12,000-square-foot center will house 48 phone operators and 12 radio dispatchers — with modern amenities and enhanced security, and it is scheduled to open in fall 2026.  GV Wire
  • The City of Fresno became the first partner city to join First Public Hydrogen—the nation’s first public hydrogen utility—to expand clean energy access and reduce fueling costs. Mayor Jerry Dyer said the move will support the expansion of Fresno Area Express’s hydrogen-powered bus fleet.  The Business Journal

  • United Health Centers is expanding partnerships at its 35 locations as changes to Medicare coverage may force cuts to transportation and case management for vulnerable patients. Its new Surgical Center and Urgent Care Clinic has been serving patients since Monday and the rest of the center will open for care next week.  ABC30
  • UCSF Fresno warns residents to prepare as dangerous triple-digit temperatures will hit the Central Valley this weekend — doctors and first responders expect a rise in heat-related emergencies and advise staying hydrated and limiting outdoor activity to prevent severe illness. Health officials stress the need to recognize early symptoms like blurred vision and confusion to avoid life-threatening conditions.  Your Central Valley
