ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A house fire displaced four people in central Fresno on July 14th when crews quickly put out the flames in the attic after the blaze started just after midnight on Poplar north of Floradora—officials suspect an electrical problem while all residents escaped safely.  ABC30

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Crews are battling the Max Fire near Tollhouse that burned 300 acres with 5% containment as of Monday morning in the Blue Canyon area. Campgrounds were ordered to evacuate and an evacuation order was issued for zone K61 while air tankers, helicopters and highway patrol helped close Trimmer Springs Road at Big Creek Road.  KMJ Now

  • Fresno Economic Opportunities Commission named Salam Nalia as its interim CEO Monday. The financially troubled agency spent its $8 million reserve—needing a $5 million loan to continue operations.  GV Wire
  • Fresno Unified may pay ex‐communications chief Nikki Henry $162,000 as part of her resignation settlement after she made a dossier with 39 false quotes against Superintendent Misty Her—trustee Susan Wittrup said she learned of the deal from news reports and will vote no while calling for an outside investigation.  GV Wire

HEALTH NEWS

  • A major heat wave has brought triple-digit temperatures across the Central Valley, and workers are urged to keep safe as employers must provide fresh water and shade when temperatures hit 80 or above — the Department of Industrial Relations added that extra breaks are allowed during these hot days. These measures come as poor air quality also raises concerns for those working outdoors.  ABC30
