- ➤ On Monday, Riverside County deputies helped Fresno homicide detectives arrest 41-year-old Raymond Ornelas Torres, who allegedly shot Julian Garcia in a parking lot on South Plumas Street on June 20th — Garcia died at a hospital and Torres awaits transport to Fresno County jail on murder charges. David Valadao have reintroduced the Dignity Act of 2025, a bill that would let undocumented immigrants who were in the U.S. before 2021 secure legal status if they pass background checks—applicants would pay a $7,000 fee over 7 years while employers must use E-Verify and border security measures are strengthened. - ➤ More than 100 people at Journey Home and Golden State Triage Center shelters in Fresno must find new housing by the end of the year because Project Homekey funds have run out—both shelters will stop accepting new residents on July 31 while local agencies work to secure permanent housing.
