  • Fresno law enforcement is widening the search for missing mother Whisper Owen and her 8-month-old daughter Sandra McCarty, who were last seen on July 15 in a silver 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer with a damaged headlight+ a traffic camera later captured the vehicle near Atwater as they headed toward Elk Grove; if seen, dial 911.  KMJ Now

  • Abandoned farmland is rising in the Central Valley as falling commodity prices, water policy changes and new laws force farmers to leave orchards and vineyards untended & create pest problems for neighboring fields.   • On July 23, 17 families in Southwest Fresno celebrated the launch of two tax-credit funded, energy-efficient affordable home developments through a partnership among Self-Help Enterprises, the City of Fresno, and Tri Counties Bank. Five families moved in and six received keys while six homes remain available for qualified buyers—city leaders say the project will build wealth and expand homeownership opportunities in the community.  The Business Journal
