- ➤ Fresno-based Utility Trailer of California acquired Shehan Transport Refrigeration Inc. in Delhi in June and will convert it into a parts and service center to improve access to trailer parts for local customers. The expansion adds a new hub to the company’s network, which already includes Fresno, Lathrop, and Fontana (boosting regional service). The Business Journal
- ➤ A Dubai-based nut processor, Kahraman Agro DMCC, will open its first western hemisphere facility by leasing a 25,000-square-foot space in east Fresno near Fowler and Shields avenues, built by Cook Land Company in the Airways East Business Park. Mayor Jerry Dyer said the company expects to export $200 million this year and plans to bring its entire Dubai operation to Fresno by year three — a move that could boost local business. The San Joaquin Valley Sun
- ➤ A group of more than 20 community and business-serving partners launched Scale Fresno in May with a $1 million investment from The James Irvine Foundation to increase small business ownership by 30% by the end of the decade. Scale Fresno will offer microloans, technical assistance and resources to support entrepreneurs with a focus on underserved groups such as women, people of color and first-time founders—aiming to strengthen the overall small business ecosystem in Fresno County. The Business Journal
- ➤ A judge blocked Costco’s plan to move from its northwest Fresno location due to zoning and environmental issues, and Madera County Supervisor Jordan Wamhoff suggested that relocating north of the San Joaquin River could ease business restrictions—while Fresno Mayor Jerry Dyer said a move outside the city would cause a significant financial hit. Costco is weighing its options amid ongoing litigation as city officials work to retain the store and its jobs. GV Wire
