- ➤ A 26-year-old Mexican national, Miguel Obed Romero Reyes, was sentenced to over four years in federal prison after a Fresno County traffic stop on Interstate 5 uncovered more than 200,000 fentanyl pills in a duffel bag, and authorities said he picked up the pills in Arizona to transport them to Washington—investigators included the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office and Homeland Security Investigations. The Fresno County Farm Bureau reported repair costs have soared—damages are estimated at between $110 million and $300 million as farmers use traps and pest control chemicals to fight the crisis.
