  • The Fresno Art Museum will reopen today from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in central Fresno and will feature five new exhibits—showing works by a Native American artist recognized by the Council and vibrant fruit paintings by local artist Eliana Saucedo, along with stone sculptures and new merchandise.  ABC30

  • Rivian opened its first service center, dealership, and demo center in Fresno on June 2, marking its first facility between San Jose and Burbank; city officials said the 16,000-square-foot center (located at 4507 N.   • The mother of Fresno homicide victim Matthew Chavez delivered a powerful impact statement in court before Zyad Alsaid was sentenced to 25 years to life plus one year for using a knife after Chavez was fatally stabbed outside Vista Turning Point outpatient mental health services (258 N.   • Shakira performed at Valley Children’s Stadium on Aug. 7, where about 30,000 fans watched her dynamic show that featured hits like 'Pies descalzos, sueños blancos' & a final U.S. tour stop. Her concert transformed the venue with dramatic lighting & impressive costumes.  The Collegian
  • Global superstar Shakira performed at Valley Children's Stadium on Thursday night, where tens of thousands of fans gathered for an energetic concert despite long entry lines and parking problems that left some missing the show’s start. The Fresno State Athletics Department apologized (citing a late gate opening) as officials and emergency services confirmed there were no major incidents during the event.  ABC30

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Emails released in a lawsuit show that Fresno officials held private budget committee meetings outside the regular budget cycle—raising concerns over possible Brown Act violations. The documents reveal secret discussions, retroactive record changes, and public worry about transparency in the city’s budgeting process.  KVPR
  • Fresno officials announced that parts of Shaw and Golden State will close today and Sunday—with more significant closures planned from late Sunday through Tuesday—as they prepare for the High Speed Rail construction in northwest Fresno. Local businesses like Forestiere Underground Gardens have already reported a drop in customers due to parked equipment and diverted traffic.  ABC30

HEALTH NEWS

  • Doctors at the Eye Medical Center now use a new device that uses low-level light to slow macular degeneration — a common cause of vision loss in older adults. Dr. Mehta said patients will receive the treatment several times a week over four months to help the cells in their eyes work better.  ABC30
