- ➤ Bobby Salazar made his first federal court appearance after his arrest on Tuesday for arson and fraud when he allegedly hired a biker to set fire to his restaurant on Blackstone Avenue — his session has been continued to today as he awaits legal representation while his business remains open. - ➤ Fresno restaurateur Bobby Salazar has been charged with arson after allegedly paying a motorcycle gang leader to set fire to one of his taquerias for an insurance fraud claim—he appeared in federal court on Wednesday with his arraignment delayed until Thursday at 2 p.m. and remains in custody. - ➤ Fresno police found two narcotics labs, five firearms and slot machines during a probation check near Pontiac Way and Minnewawa Avenue and arrested three people on narcotics and firearms charges. GV Wire
- ➤ Bobby Salazar appeared in court today at Fresno County Federal Courthouse on his initial hearing where his attorney was unable to speak and he was detained with a new hearing set for tomorrow at 2:00 p.m.—while his Tower District restaurant, which briefly closed Tuesday, has reopened amid allegations of an insurance fraud scheme tied to a fire at another location that could threaten local jobs. - ➤ Blake McFarland, a local sculptor known from his YouTube channel, installed a 300 lb. firefighter statue in Clovis outside Fire Station #1 without city permit—filming his process as a social experiment. Firefighters and city officials praised the work and later moved the statue to the Fire Training Facility after the video reached over 400,000 views. KMPH

- ➤ Firefighters battling the Garnet Fire used favorable conditions overnight to protect PG&E infrastructure near Balch Camp while the fire expanded to 9,170 acres and remained zero percent contained. Dozers, air tankers, and 800 crews worked to reopen old fire lines on the steep north side near the Kings River—boosting access—and managed the smaller Deer and Garlic fires as vegetation dried. KMPH
- ➤ Yesterday, the Garnet Fire burned over 9,100 acres east of Pine Flat Lake in Sierra National Forest, forcing evacuations and closing roads to Wishon Village.
