CRIME NEWS

  • A man in his 30s was shot in the hand and leg after an altercation at the Shell gas station on Jensen and Maple early Monday morning—police are reviewing security footage to identify the suspect.  KMJ Now
  • Fresno County Sheriff's Office arrested 44-year-old Jennifer Cedano after a Saturday night shooting at a home on 315 E. Gettysburg Ave., where deputies found a man with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, and she now faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon, burglary, and firearm possession by a convicted felon—bail is set at $195,000.  KMPH
  • Fresno County Sheriff's Office said 45-year-old Jennifer Cedano was arrested for a shooting on Gettysburg near Wilson—gunfire erupted at 8:30 p.m. Saturday and injured a man whose lower body was shot as he was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive.  ABC30

  • Associated Students, Inc.—ASI senate meetings will resume for the fall semester tomorrow in Resnick Student Union Room 207 from 4–6 p.m., led by President Camalah Saleh who plans to launch new projects and increase student input.  The Collegian

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Garnet Fire has burned 21,703 acres nearly a week after lightning sparked the blaze in the Sierra, and it is now 12% contained. About 1,444 firefighters from 29 agencies are using air and ground crews (including water-scooping planes) at a base camp north of the fire to slow its spread while officials monitor weather for more lightning strikes.  KMJ Now

  • DaRon Bland, a Modesto native and former Bulldog, signed a $92 million four-year extension with the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. The new contract gives him $50 million in guaranteed money and an average annual value of $23 million—a significant upgrade for the NFL cornerback from Fresno State.  ABC30
