- ➤ A wildfire near Coalinga in Fresno County burned 5,000 acres and forced evacuations in Zone P25 with warnings for Zone P18 because strong winds and steep land make it hard to control. The Salt 14-2 Fire started Tuesday along Jacalitos Creek Road near Coalinga and was 5% contained as of Wednesday morning—200 workers, nine engines, one helicopter, two bulldozers, a dozen crews and 10 extra resources are fighting the blaze while investigators study the cause. - ➤ A lightning-sparked Garnet Fire in the Sierra National Forest burned nearly 30,000 acres in Fresno County and remains 12% contained—evacuation orders have been issued for zones K27, K28, K30, K31, K32A, and K40. - ➤ Firefighters are working at Fresno Air Attack Base today to fight wildfires raging in Central California and reload tankers quickly — the base has five loading pits, four storage tanks holding 100,000 gallons, and an Erickson Aero Tanker that reloads in seven minutes.
