  • Josh Allen announced Friday morning that he is partnering with New Balance to fund youth sports programs in Firebaugh — he said his family's 3,000-acre farm gave him the work ethic to help local kids play sports, offering them a chance to follow in his footsteps.  The Business Journal

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • On Friday, the U.S. Forest Service reported that the Garnet Fire burned 33,388 acres and was 14% contained in Fresno County. More than 1,800 firefighters battled the blaze near Dinkey Creek and Rodgers Ridge—and evacuation orders were in force for several zones.  GV Wire
  • The Salt Fire burned over 22,000 acres and was 12% contained as of Friday after starting Tuesday near Jacalitos Creek Road in Coalinga—fire crews battled steep terrain and dry grass fueling the blaze.  KMPH

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Fresno Superior Court resumed operations on Friday morning at the M Street Courthouse on M and Tuolumne streets after a brief closure caused by flooding—staff quickly restored services so all relocated departments returned to their normal assignments.  ABC30
  • So far this year, Fresno’s bus system FAX has nearly reached pre-pandemic ridership with 5.2 million boardings—a 5% increase over last year. The agency expanded several routes—such as one serving key job centers—and is on track to exceed 10 million trips by year-end.  Fresnoland

  • Fresno city leaders held a Thursday ribbon-cutting ceremony to open the city’s first dedicated cricket pitch at the Regional Sports Complex—an idea suggested by local Indian Community members—and announced that a second pitch at JSK Neighborhood Park will host upcoming league games—promising more competitive play.  ABC30
