- ➤ A Fresno man, Timothy Scott Chenot, 34, fired an AR-15 from his moving truck in a residential neighborhood on Aug. 2 before police recovered his firearm and related evidence—he was sentenced by a federal judge to seven years and three months in prison. GV Wire
- ➤ Authorities arrested 38-year-old John Bartollome on Saturday on the 28000 block of Cholla Avenue—deputies detained him after a brief struggle and a K9 unit helped find meth and drug paraphernalia in his car. KMPH
- ➤ A 64-year-old man was struck and killed late Friday night in Hilmar near Highway 165 and Third Street when a suspected drunk driver hit him while he was crossing the road and the driver, identified as 40-year-old Angel Ortega, was later pulled over and arrested on suspicion of murder—felony DUI and hit-and-run. - ➤ Fresno CHP pulled over a truck towing a trailer full of recyclables and found nine road safety violations—such as bald or missing tires, no license or VIN plate, and an overloaded trailer—prompting officers to warn drivers that proper trailer safety protects everyone on the road. KMPH

- ➤ A wildfire near Coalinga burned 22,489 acres and was 25% contained as of Saturday morning—evacuations and road closures affected several areas.
