CRIME NEWS

  • Fresno police arrested a teen (15-year-old) after he committed an armed robbery at a Vons and attempted a carjacking on Sunday morning, with witnesses reporting that he fired his gun as the vehicle fled.  KMPH
  • A man was arrested for DUI after being stopped for speeding at 87 mph on Friant Road (near Lost Lake) and is now undergoing a DUI evaluation by CHP.  KMPH
  • A Selma police officer shot a suspect Saturday night after deputies responded to reports of shots fired just outside city limits near a shopping center at Floral and Highway 99 — the suspect was taken to CRMC in stable condition as two investigations continue.  ABC30

CULTURE NEWS

  • Dog Daze music festival returned at Chukchansi Park in Downtown Fresno—featuring headliners such as The Chainsmokers, Iann Dior, and San Pacho across three stages for hip-hop, EDM, and Latin music. The event also highlighted local artists and businesses as the crowd enjoyed a mix of classic and modern dance tracks.  The Collegian

  • Fresno State Professor Betsy Hayes and co-author Tori Terhune hosted a book launch event at the Speech Arts Building TV studio on Sept.6 to debut the second edition of their career guide, Land Your Dream Career in College. Students and faculty enjoyed cupcakes and learned strategies for networking, personal branding, and using AI—insights meant to help them navigate a changing job market.  The Collegian

SPORTS NEWS

  • Fresno State football beat Oregon State with a score of 36 to 27 on the road as quarterback E.J. Warner overcame interceptions with a 30-yard rushing touchdown and led a late drive that ended in Dylan Lynch’s 43-yard field goal with one minute left—improving the Bulldogs to a 2 to 1 record. The team will build on its strong running game and special teams play when it hosts the Southern University Jaguars on Sept. 13 at Valley Children’s Stadium.  The Collegian
