- ➤ Fire crews in Shaver Lake battled the Garnet Fire for a third week as cool, moist weather helped slow the 19-day blaze sparked by lightning in the Sierra National Forest. Crews created a backburn line and relocated their command post to Harlan Ranch—receiving support from New York Fire Department personnel and local officials who worked together to manage the emergency.
