Good morning, Fresno. Here's your local news at a glance for Sunday, the 14th of September.

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Boots in the Park brought a star-studded lineup to Woodward Park over the weekend with Blake Shelton headlining on Saturday and a new Party in the Park featuring Pitbull scheduled for today—local restaurants like Woodward Grill expect a 25 to 35% rise in sales from the influx of around 15,000 fans. The event has grown over the years and continues to boost Fresno's economy.  ABC30

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Garnet Fire was 69% contained by Saturday after burning 59,000 acres with no loss of lives or structures; officials lifted several evacuation warnings and downgraded some orders (including changes to Zones K28 and K32A). Fire officials held a virtual community press conference to update residents on the evolving situation.  KMPH

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • California legislators approved a law that bans most masks for law enforcement during operations after recent immigration raids. Gov. Newsom must sign the bill within a month for it to become law — the rule does not stop officers from using masks for health or undercover work.  ABC30
  • California lawmakers are considering a bill that would let farmers pause Williamson Act rules so they can use dry fields for solar panels and batteries instead of paying high fees. The plan would raise property taxes and require solar companies to make deals with local towns—steps meant to help farms as water grows scarce.  GV Wire

SPORTS NEWS

  • Fresno State beat Southern University 56-7 yesterday at Valley Children’s Stadium when senior transfer E.J. Warner threw four touchdown passes with no interceptions—helping the Bulldogs reach a 3-1 record as they prepare to play in Hawai’i next Saturday.  GV Wire
