COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Fresno community members held a car wash on Monday to honor 15-year-old Nathan Torres who died after being hit by a car while riding his bike—funds raised will help cover his funeral costs and support community healing.  KMPH
  • The Fresno Chaffee Zoo will host Sniffari Night on October 26th with a Halloween event where pet owners can dress up their dogs and take part in ZooBoo, while dogs must remain on a leash and be current on vaccines (tickets are required).  KMPH
  • Today, runners celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month at Fresno City College during the 2025 Frida Fun Run, which raised funds for the Fresno County League of Mexican American Women. Participants ran or walked 5k and 2k courses while dressing as Frida Kahlo as the league, which has given over $650,000 in scholarships to Central Valley students, continues its support for education.  ABC30

  • The Big Fresno Fair and Amendola Family Student Cupboard will hold Fill the Need Day on Oct. 9—charging $6 per ticket with $3 aiding free meals and hygiene items for Fresno State students. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. at the fairgrounds and will include games and visits from Victor E. Bulldog and the cheer team.  The Collegian
  • On Oct 2, Fresno State hosted an AI Talk webinar—led by Bao Johri—where art professor Ahran Koo explained how artificial intelligence is changing art education and urged careful ethical use of the new tools.   The Collegian

HEALTH NEWS

  • Young athletes met former professional soccer player Paulo Cesar Chavez at a free health fair in Northwest Fresno today—held at Inspiration Park on Gettysburg and Vista Avenues—where families received health screenings, hotdogs, prizes and signed photos. The event was organized by Bi-national of Central California and aimed to encourage local youth to maintain healthy habits.  ABC30

SPORTS NEWS

  • Fresno State Bulldogs extended their win streak to five after beating Nevada 20-17 at Valley Children's Stadium on Oct. 4—defensive plays forced the Wolf Pack to use three quarterbacks and earned the team three interceptions. Head Coach Matt Entz said a short-yard final drive sealed the win as the Bulldogs will face Colorado State on Oct. 10.  The Collegian
  • Fresno State won a football game on Saturday night at Valley Children’s Stadium — building a 20-3 lead on four Nevada turnovers and holding off a late rally to secure a 20-17 win in front of 40,005 fans as the Bulldogs improved to 5-1.  GV Wire
  • The Fresno State Bulldogs will face the Nevada Wolf Pack at Valley Children’s Stadium tonight at 7:30 p.m.—the Bulldogs hope to extend their win streak to five games and mark their final Mountain West matchup before joining the Pac-12 next season.  The Collegian
