- ➤ Poncho's Pumpkin Patch—located off Quail Oak Road in Auberry—will welcome families for a $5 u-pick pumpkin experience for the second year as co-owners Brian and Mary Bogdanich run a family-focused event. Kids can feed carrots to Poncho while visitors pack a picnic and enjoy time outdoors. ABC30
- ➤ Gibson Farm Market will host its Fall Festival on Oct. 18 from 12-3 p.m. at 5368 N. Chestnut Ave., where attendees can enjoy pumpkin painting, a hay maze, a scavenger hunt, and food and wine tasting. A plant sale (8 a.m. to 12 p.m.) will be held before the festival with food available from The Rolling Donut (a food truck on site). The Collegian

- ➤ The 5th Annual Indigenous Peoples’ Day celebration was held last Monday at Fresno City Hall Plaza—featuring drum performances by Sacred Circle, a flag display by the Indigenous Warrior Flag Group, and a blessing by Delaine Bill while the city council recognized the Fresno American Indian Health Project for its cultural health services. - ➤ The Tulare County town of Yettem was founded in 1901 by Armenian immigrants and is located about 11 miles north of Visalia along Avenue 384. Scholars say it is the only town in America with an Armenian name and that its St. Mary’s Armenian Apostolic Church continues to serve regional families. KVPR
- ➤ Fresno Fright Nights is ongoing at the Island Waterpark where fans see haunted walkthroughs and fun rides — the event shows horror icons such as Felissa Rose, Mark Burnham, Miko Hughes, Bill Thornbury, and Lew Temple and will run until November 1. KMPH

- ➤ Monday night rain left Fresno roads wet and raised concerns about slippery driving and mudslides on burn scars; Fresno County Board Supervisor Nathan Magsig said public works cleaned up any mudslides quickly. - ➤ Sixty-seven Central Valley veterans from 16 hometowns are boarding the 33rd annual Honor Flight at Fresno Yosemite Airport today to travel to Washington, D.C. The group includes veterans from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard who honor their service and sacrifice. KMPH
- ➤ A judge on Oct. 10 dismissed the tribes’ bid to force Fresno cardrooms to stop offering blackjack and poker — allowing these establishments to continue supporting local services. - ➤ Today, Fresno announced a rebate program that offers up to $2 per square foot for converting water-heavy lawns to drought-tolerant landscapes to meet water-efficiency goals. - ➤ cCARE announced new partnerships with California Urology and Central Valley Medical and Women’s Imaging that bring six urologists and three advanced practice providers to Fresno to improve cancer care.
