- ➤ Sequoia Brewing reopened on Oct. 10 under new ownership at its Champlain Avenue location and now offers furloughed federal employees discounts on starters and drinks (showing a federal ID, .gov email, or contractor badge). - ➤ Students at the Leon S Peters Business Building are working to revive the dry fountain by cleaning the surrounding area and creating flyers + spreading the word about the project. - ➤ Hidalgo Elementary School held an anti-bullying presentation that taught students how their words can help or hurt—students watched a video that showed a plant thriving from kind words while another drooped from mean ones.
