- ➤ Fresno State is set to open a new Dunkin' location on campus this October that replaces the former Taco Bell Express on the University Center's lower level. The restaurant will serve a full menu of donuts, breakfast sandwiches, pastries, and coffee from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays and 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays and plans to hire 25 to 35 student staff. - ➤ Taco Truck Throwdown, a 14-year food festival, will be held on Nov. 8 at Chukchansi Park with 24 taco trucks competing and live music featuring E-40. - ➤ Central California Food Bank CEO Natalie Caples said more than five million SNAP recipients in California will miss benefits starting November 1 if Capitol Hill fails to act, putting 720,000 local users at risk of delayed CalFresh funds. Fresno County social services estimated that $46 million in benefits was in jeopardy after the October 23 deadline, and Gov. Gavin Newsom announced the California National Guard—supporting state food banks—will be deployed if the shutdown continues. KMJ Now
- ➤ Fresno’s Soul Housing shelter closed suddenly earlier this month, leaving about 200 people without housing and several employees without work—raising concerns over a possible violation of the Cal-WARN Act.
