- ➤ A Diwali celebration—one of India's most renowned festivals—was held today along Maple and Nees Avenues in Northeast Fresno as families gathered to observe the Hindu Festival of Lights. ABC30
- ➤ Families in the Valley are gathering marigolds from a two-acre Sanger farm this weekend to prepare for Día de los Muertos celebrations starting early November; the farm grows rows of blooms that are used to craft hand-woven necklaces for family altars. ABC30

- ➤ Fresno homeless encampments were cleared quietly last week near Highway 180 (one near a pedestrian footbridge and another on Highway 41) by state authorities who removed hazardous waste and installed barriers to prevent recamp, while Caltrans’ SAFE Task Force is working with local officials to plan a community outreach fair next week (Fresno Mayor Jerry Dyer thanked Gov. - ➤ Fresno County supervisors will block new liquor license applications for Calwa on Tuesday because officials say the area already has too many stores near schools and high numbers of service calls, including domestic violence and burglary.
