- ➤ The 106th Central Valley Veterans Day Parade will take place in downtown Fresno on November 11, starting at Fresno City Hall and ending at Chukchansi Park—live coverage airs at 11 a.m. Thousands are expected to line the streets to honor veterans. ABC30

- ➤ Fresno topped $9 billion in agricultural production in 2024 with fruits and nuts rising by 19% and livestock and poultry by 9%—county officials and farmers worry that rising input costs and water shortages may threaten future exports. ABC30
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Fresno-based band Redbone topped the Billboard charts with their hit “Come and Get Your Love” (1974) and embraced Native American heritage encouraged by Jimi Hendrix, while their song later saw a resurgence in movies and TV commercials; they remain the most successful Native American rock band even after Lolly Vegas’s passing (2010). EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Fresno EOC’s Head Start programs are staying open today—even as similar programs elsewhere are closed by the federal shutdown. Director Michael Balderas said the agency will share updates with families if changes occur. GV Wire
- ➤ Four Clovis Unified students were named Overall National Champions at the Meat Evaluation and Technology Competition at Purdue University in Indiana on Friday—each received a medal, plaque, and $1000 after competing against 42 teams. Their win builds on Clovis FFA's long tradition of excellence in meat evaluation. KMPH
- ➤ Fresno Pacific University received a $1 million matching gift from an anonymous donor that will match every donation dollar for dollar until Dec. 31—this gift is expected to raise a total of $2 million and support nearly 3,000 students across Fresno, Visalia, Merced and Bakersfield as well as in online programs. - ➤ Over half a million people in central California have not received CalFresh since federal funding ran out over the weekend; Fresno County said households usually receive $46 million monthly as they wait for state and federal guidance. The Central California Food Bank has seen a surge in requests — its phone lines were overwhelmed as more residents turn to food banks for help. ABC30
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Kaweah Health updated its visitor policy yesterday to allow overnight visitors to stay with patients and requires an overnight visitor badge before 9 p.m.—the policy also permits children under 15 when accompanied by an adult and expands visitor limits in the emergency department.—The changes are aimed at boosting patient comfort and support during their care.
