- ➤ Central Valley communities will honor Veterans Day on Tuesday, November 11 with parades, pancake breakfasts, ceremonial exhibits, and runs, including Fresno City Hall's 11:11 a.m. parade expecting over 114 participants + nearly 20,000 spectators lining the streets. Additional events in Clovis, Merced, Exeter, Madera, and Mariposa highlight the region's tribute to those who served. ABC30
- ➤ On Tuesday, November 11, Fresno will honor veterans with the 106th Central Valley Veterans Day Parade starting at 11 a.m. at City Hall. Many local restaurants are offering free meals and special discounts for veterans—other nearby towns host similar events—providing a day of tribute and community support. KMPH
- ➤ Pastor Brandon Davison of Clovis Hills Community Church in Fresno launched Removed by Grace, a free tattoo removal program to help people remove gang tattoos that block job opportunities (these tattoos often hurt their chances to start fresh). He received $40,000 in grant funds from Brotherhood Mutual to buy a laser system and train operators (the initiative aims to support those building new lives). KMPH
- ➤ AFP California Valley Chapter will honor 14 local philanthropists at its National Philanthropy Day Luncheon (Nov. 13 at Ft. Washington Golf and Country Club in Fresno). Honorees include Carl and Lulu Mitchell, Powerball winners who donated millions to cancer care, as well as OK Produce and the GL Bruno Family Foundation, among others recognized for their charitable impact. - ➤ Legendary rock band Journey has announced their Final Frontier Tour 2026 farewell tour with a stop at the Save Mart Center (April 24 at 7:30 p.m.), and they will also perform in Sacramento on April 21 and Bakersfield on April 22. KMPH
- ➤ Mayor Jerry Dyer announced a Fresno box art pilot program on Wednesday that will transform ordinary traffic boxes into vibrant public art by local artists, students and community members—a creative effort to brighten city streets. ABC30

- ➤ Fresno State will send a campus-wide email to students and employees if immigration enforcement is confirmed on campus. The alert under the SAFE Act will include the date, time, location — and links to support resources for those in need. GV Wire
- ➤ At a recent board meeting, Fresno Unified officials introduced a draft evaluation tool for Superintendent Misty Her that will score her performance by May 30 based on district goal targets—final details will be approved by mid-December. The board also awarded Davis Moreno Construction Inc a $10 million bid to build a new 13,300 square foot gym at Roosevelt High School to improve athletic facilities across the district. Fresnoland

- ➤ Fresno City Council approved a $250K funding package on November 6 to help the Central California Food Bank provide one million meals for families affected by the SNAP expiration on Nov. 1. The measure was introduced by Councilmember Nelson Esparza with $50K from his District 7 budget and $200K from the General City Purpose fund—co-sponsored by Mayor Jerry Dyer. KMPH
