- ➤ Ten people were displaced after a house fire on Harvard near Crystal in central Fresno that started just before 2 a.m. on November 18th—fire crews arrived quickly and confirmed that everyone escaped safely. ABC30
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Coast Aluminum will hold its groundbreaking today at 1 p.m. for its new $42M manufacturing and distribution facility—located at 5255 E. Home Ave near Fresno Yosemite International Airport—to expand its local operations. The 163,000-square-foot facility will open in 2026 and is designed to secure jobs and boost the local industry. - ➤ Los Angeles-based Community Infrastructure Investment Group, Inc. received a $2 million tax credit to build a wastewater treatment equipment manufacturing facility in Fresno— it will invest $12.8 million and add 47 full-time jobs over five years to keep the project in California. - ➤ Global heavy equipment manufacturer Komatsu has acquired the former Gee Heavy Machinery dealership in Fresno after the business closed last July and added it to its Komatsu West dealer network in Northern California. The dealership is now run by Komatsu professionals, including many familiar technicians, and will offer complete sales, rental, parts and service options to local customers. The Business Journal

- ➤ Christmas festivities have kicked off at Kearney Mansion Museum and will soon feature the unveiling of decor — over a dozen Christmas trees telling traditional holiday stories from around the world. The event offers activities for all ages. ABC30
- ➤ Ten winners of The Big Tell film contest received a $5,000 stipend each to share their completed projects with the community this week — a plan detailed by filmmaker Angelica Hernandez. The films will feature stories from the Central Valley, foothills and mountain communities. ABC30

- ➤ Fresno State professor Chelsey Juarez used her wildfire experience to design a new forensic fire death investigation academy. The five day training will be held in April at Fresno City College First Responders Campus and will include lectures and hands on exercises for 50 professionals and 10 students—applications will close in December. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Fresno completed safety and paving upgrades on Blackstone Avenue from Minarets to Nees, making the six-lane road safer for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians. The updates include buffered bike lanes, green-painted bikeways and high-visibility crosswalks — key steps in supporting the city's Vision Zero plan. GV Wire
- ➤ Fresno’s City Hall built in 1941 was a modern design that broke from old traditions and was created by architects Charles H. Franklin and Ernest Kump Jr.—it gained national attention when the Museum of Modern Art featured it in 1944.
