  • BenSmokin BBQ in Fresno’s Tower District will serve free Thanksgiving meals at 1120 N. Palm Ave. from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thanksgiving. Co-owner Bernard Mendoza said a spiritual calling inspired the event and donations from local businesses helped fund a menu featuring turkey, ham, and sides — any extra food will be shared with nearby residents.  GV Wire

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Fresno County Sheriff’s Office recognized five women on November 23 for graduating from the Fresno County Jail Sewing Program — a program started in 2022 to teach basic sewing skills for community employment — and honored Laundry Supervisor Melinda Lujan along with Correctional Officer Cheryl Blair for their dedication.  KMPH
  • The new Station 72 opened near Table Mountain Casino Resort on Saturday — the first fire station built in the area in more than 20 years. Fresno County Fire Protection District will hold a grand opening ceremony on Thursday, December 11 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.  ABC30

SPORTS NEWS

  • Boxing fans met local boxing stars at Granite Park yesterday, speaking with rising talents Amari Jones, Jordan Fuentes, and Ellie Salinas. Jose Ramirez addressed fans before the upcoming Fight For Dignity event on November 29 at the Save Mart Center — the first 500 attendees each received two $50 vouchers.  KMPH
  • Fresno State, with a 7-4 record, will face San Jose State, who has a 3-8 record, on November 29 at 10:30 p.m. EST in a Mountain West Conference football game—both teams aim to rebound after their recent losses and improve their performances.  ABC30
  • After losing 28—17 on Senior Night, the Fresno State Bulldogs will not reach the Mountain West championship game and ended their season hopes with a defeat by the Aggies. Head Coach Matt Entz now must choose the starting quarterback for the final game as questions about the offense’s direction remain.  The Collegian
