GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Westbound Belmont Avenue between Armstrong and Fowler is closed due to utility upgrades, with work only on the westbound side and eastbound traffic remaining open. The closure started Monday and the road is expected to reopen on Friday, December 12—drivers should follow posted detours. KMPH
- ➤ Mariposa Plaza in downtown Fresno reopened after $4.3 million in renovations that added new stages, seating and shade structures—city officials held a ribbon cutting Monday morning. The plaza is set to host the Winter Village with a public skating rink opening Friday to boost downtown activity. GV Wire
- ➤ A local volunteer accused Firebaugh’s city manager of delaying progress on a fully-funded animal shelter — which had received a $100,000 deposit and more than $300,000 offer — by failing to provide a required plot plan and causing the donor to withdraw support.
