  • Family and friends will honor Jesus Dario Corona, a Parlier officer killed in a Tulare County crash, with a candlelight vigil Monday at 7 p.m. at Earl Ruth Park in Parlier and funeral services on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lindsay.  ABC30
  • Families seeking a personal holiday experience can now book private five-minute photo sessions with Santa at Holiday Magic Studios at River Park Shopping Center in front of Regal & their reservations support a campaign to gift free sessions to families in need.  KMPH

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Fresno’s Fashion Fair Shopping Center will begin a major renovation in late spring 2026 to upgrade its Outdoor Village + add modern seating, updated entrances, and improved restrooms, with work continuing through 2028. Macerich said the project will boost the mall’s role as a community hub.  GV Wire

  • Ronnie Paul's TV show Flying Home will mark 20 years with a live, six-hour broadcast on Dec. 13 at Cocola Broadcasting Channel 43.8, Comcast Channel 378 and online at cocolatv.com. The show began as a Saturday night radio program in Oakhurst and built a loyal following.  The Business Journal
  • Fresno's local TV newsrooms are reshuffling their anchor lineups today — KMPH FOX26 launched new anchor Madison Macay from Reno while Luis Cruz returns to lead KSEE's morning news and ABC30’s veteran Warren Armstrong will retire from his 11 p.m. shift next month, with rookie Vincent Camarillo also joining ABC30.  GV Wire

  • Fresno State's ASI addressed course availability challenges at a Dec. 3 meeting, approving a resolution to add 250 new class sections. It will hold Spring 2026 elections—candidate petitions open Feb. 2 with voting scheduled for April 21-23 in Resnick Student Union Room 207.  The Collegian

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Navy has announced plans to prepare an Environmental Impact Statement on transitioning seven FA-18 squadrons to F-35Cs at a master jet base, with a 30-day public scoping process from Dec. 5 – Jan. 4 to gather comments on alternatives and historic property impacts.  KMPH
  • On Dec. 4, the California Energy Commission held its 2025 Clean Energy Hall of Fame Awards at the CNRA Auditorium in Fresno, honoring Judith Gomez of CAPS in Porterville and Cassandra Little of the Metro Black Chamber for advancing clean energy goals.  The Business Journal

  • Two supportive housing projects—the Stasis Center on 4135 E Olive Ave and Falcon Court on 4415 N Clark St—will close on Jan. 31 due to federal funding cuts, affecting 80 tenants and highlighting funding challenges for local permanent supportive housing.  Fresnoland
  • City officials completed a draft environmental impact report for the proposed Costco Commercial Center at 7120 North Riverside Drive after a court ruling required a review of greenhouse gas emissions, which were not significant, so public comments will be accepted until January 5.  KMPH

HEALTH NEWS

  • Mobile clinics serving farmworkers in rural Fresno have seen a drop in patient visits as workers avoid routine care amid increased immigration enforcement fears, with visits falling from around 34 to about 22 per outing (a 15-20% decrease) and raising concerns over delayed health outcomes.  Fresnoland
  • Local community members gathered at UCSF Fresno Friday to honor late nurse Patrice Sanders, whose portrait will be on the 2026 Rose Parade float celebrating organ donors. The float will be seen on ABC30 on New Year's Day starting at 8 a.m.  ABC30

  • Campus Pointe will complete its two-decade master plan with the grand opening next week of the 91,433 sqft Hyatt House hotel located across from Save Mart Center. A ribbon cutting is scheduled at the four-story hotel and conference center on Shaw + Chestnut avenues.  The Business Journal

  • Former interim head coach Tim Skipper was named Cal Poly head coach on Dec. 3 after leading UCLA to a 3-6 record, including a win over Penn State in the season. He signed a five-year deal to take over a Mustang squad that finished ninth in the Big Sky Conference.  The Collegian
